Quabbin Mediation serves all sectors of the population: children, teens, adults, elders, people from diverse cultures, those who speak languages other than English, and people of all ability levels. The organization has the capacity to mediate with Spanish and Khmer speakers and can find interpreters for other languages when needed.
Services are free of charge or very affordable.
Quabbin Mediation provides:
- Court-based mediation services
- Community mediation services
- Community mediation training
- School-based peer-mediation, conflict resolution and active bystander training
- Family Communication Facilitation (FCF) series to encourage anger management skills within families of high risk adolescents.
- Professional seminars in problem resolution, communication, and negotiation
- Facilitation and facilitation training
- Nonviolent communication for adults
- Triage, reunification of families as referred by Juvenile Court

A summary process case at District Court involved a tenant, a young man in his twenties who had been unemployed for some time and had fallen behind on his rent; his mother, who was present to support her son; and the landlord, a woman in her early fifties. Communication had broken down and distrust persisted between them. Mediation gave these individuals the opportunity to hear and recognize each other's point of view, empathize with hurt feelings, understand individual life circumstances, and ultimately reach agreement. At the end of the mediation, while the mediator wrote up the agreement, the tenant's mother described how during the drive to court she and her son heard John Lennon's song, "Imagine," and she wondered out loud, "wouldn't it be nice." She said that they found a little bit of John Lennon's imagined world at our mediation table.

Youth Policy Board
Quabbin Mediation is a member of the Youth Policy Board, a task force of the 500-member North Quabbin Community Coalition. The Youth Policy Board provides communication and coordination among organizations serving youth, identifies gaps in current programming, and advocates for a whole-community approach to nurturing our youth.
More than 50 people on the Task Force represent youth — police departments, schools, students, parents, businesses, and citizens.
